FAQ

What is the difference between marginal and effective rate?
Your marginal rate is the rate on your last dollar of income — the bracket you "fall into". Your effective rate is total federal tax divided by taxable income, which is always lower because earlier dollars are taxed in lower brackets.
Which tax year and rules does this use?
It uses the 2024 US federal income tax brackets applied to taxable income (income after deductions). State and local taxes are not included.
Is this tax advice?
No. This is an estimate based on 2024 federal brackets for general guidance only and is not tax advice. Consult a qualified tax professional for your situation.
